Human Resources Coordinator Vacancy

Paraparaumu College is a proud co-educational school of around 1,500 students, with approximately 170 teaching and support staff, situated on the beautiful Kāpiti Coast. We enjoy a spacious campus, a growing roll, an innovative approach to learning, and a commitment to achieving the highest equitable outcomes for our students. 

We are currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Coordinator. This is a permanent part-time position, 35 hours, Monday to Friday (52 weeks per year including annual leave).

Role Overview:

The Human Resources Coordinator will work closely with the Business Manager to deliver the full range of human resource (HR) functions within a college environment. This role ensures compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and school policies, while also focusing on improving HR systems and processes and strengthening school culture.  A key aspect of the role is developing and embedding best-practice approaches to recruitment and onboarding, and the professional development and performance appraisals for support staff.  The role will also help to ensure we meet all health and safety requirements.

Key Experience and Attributes:

  • Relevant, recent experience in human resources and payroll management, preferably within education or the public sector
  • NZQA level 3 or equivalent, with a relevant tertiary qualification in human resources or a related field being desirable
  • Sound knowledge of NZ employment law, health and safety obligations and collective employment agreements
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment, onboarding and induction processes and supporting staff performance appraisal systems, with health and safety experience being desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • Experience in using HR systems and processes and developing and implementing improvements
  • Proficiency with IT and computer skills, particularly Google Workspace
