Paraparaumu College has been awarded the Attendance Services contract with the Ministry of Education (MoE) for the Kāpiti region, for the 2026-2027 period, covering 20 secondary and primary schools.
We are seeking to appoint Attendance Kaitiaki to deliver a comprehensive range of attendance services to all schools/kura and referred students within the Kāpiti region. These will be full time (including annual leave), 2 year fixed term positions.
The main focus of the Attendance Service is to improve the attendance rates of chronically absent students referred by schools and kura, and reduce the number of non-enrolled students living within the Kāpiti region referred by the Ministry of Education.
The Attendance Kaitiaki will focus on supporting these referred students through effective case management services, identifying and addressing barriers to student attendance. Establishing and maintaining strong local relationships with schools, students and their whānau, social agencies, iwi and communities will be required as they will work closely with local interagency groups to help students get the appropriate support they need.. They will also provide attendance advice and support to all schools and kura within the Kāpiti region.

We currently have a permanent, part time (term-time only) teacher aide position available, for the start of the school year in January 2026, where you will work across a range of contexts in the school as part of our learning support department.
At the college we have a number of students who are supported with individualised programmes to access the curriculum. These students may have a variety of significant additional needs (intellectual, emotional, social and physical) and require ongoing support. You may be supporting students alongside both specialist teachers in supported classes and classroom teachers in mainstream classes.
We also have a number of students for whom learning support happens primarily in mainstream classes and in additional literacy and numeracy targeted programmes. You will work alongside classroom teachers to help students access the curriculum and develop specific skills to help their learning.
The role falls within Grade D of the Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement. The successful candidate will need to provide highly specialised support for students with complex health, behavioural and/or other needs and support the development and implementation of specialised learning programmes which will require strong technical proficiency and skills.

The Kāpiti Attendance Services Manager will provide leadership and team management of the Attendance Services team, providing guidance and support, setting clear objectives and delegating responsibilities. They will engage in service delivery and case management in conjunction with the MoE. A commitment to building and maintaining strong, local, culturally responsive and trusted relationships with all stakeholders including all schools/kura, referred students and their whānau, MoE regional staff, other education and government agencies, iwi organisations and local community groups is required.
