“This school is a caring community of great learners where we focus on establishing positive, respectful relationships with those around us”
- Mark Robinson, Principal
Since 1 February 2020, Paraparaumu College enrolments have been subject to an Enrolment Scheme (as set out in Schedule 71 of the Education and Training Act 2020)
Enrolments at Paraparaumu College shall be determined in accordance with the following procedures:
Students living inside the designated home zone, as detailed below, have the absolute right to be enrolled. There are no restrictions regarding any student, at any year level, in terms of enrolment at the college, at any time.
Students living outside the designated home zone must apply for pre-enrolment before designated dates. These are determined at the beginning of each school year.
Places for students enrolling from out of zone will be dependent upon the estimated number of places available at each year level. If the number of pre-enrolments exceeds the number of places available, then a ballot will occur to determine priority order. Places will be offered to meet the number of available spaces with the balance of the unsuccessful pre-enroless being placed in rank order on a waiting list.
NUMBER OF PLACES AVAILABLE
The Board has determined the optimum number of places likely to be available for students entering Year 9 in 2025. Also indicated are the likely number of places available to students from outside the home zone.
The out of zone numbers are an estimate only and the actual number of places available will not be known until the pre-enrolment of all in zone students has been completed.
Estimated Year 9 in 2025: 300
Estimated out of zone places in Year 9 2025: 10

BALLOTS FOR PLACES FOR OUT OF ZONE STUDENTS
The order of priority in which applicants who live outside a school’s home zone are to be offered places at the school is as follows:
If the number of out of zone applicants for our school exceeds the places available, students will be selected by ballot (except in the case of special programmes, where the criteria in the enrolment scheme apply).
If the number of out of zone applicants exceeds the places available at that school, students will be selected by ballot.
If a ballot is required for Year 9, 2025 students at any or all of the schools listed above, that ballot will be held on Monday 29 July 2024. Parents will be informed of the outcome of that ballot within three school days of the ballot being held. Parents will have 14 days to respond to any offer of a place.
If a ballot is required for Years 10 to 13, 2025 students at any or all of the schools listed above, that ballot will be held Friday 18 October 2024 and parents will be informed of the outcome within three school days of the ballot being held.

In order to avoid overcrowding, the Board of Paraparaumu College has adopted an enrolment scheme which has been approved by the Ministry of Education which includes a home zone specification.
The following is a description of the home zone:
In the south, the scheme runs along the intersection of Marine Parade and Toru Road, along Toru Road to the airport and following the airport boundary north along Dakota Road – Magrath Avenue to Kāpiti Road, then along both sides of Kāpiti Road to the old State Highway, up the old State Highway to the intersection of Ruahine Street (including Nikau Valley).
The scheme then runs north up the old State Highway to Te Kowhai Road and Gary Road. The scheme then runs back along the coast to the intersection of Marine Parade and Toru Road.
